Does a NYC ticket for cell phone talking translate to a NJ resident's points on a license?

  1. My guess is that the answer is no, but I am basing this on limited knowledge. For example, a ticket for not wearing a seat belt has no points, right?

    Seems to me the back of your ticket would explain what has points in the first place anyway. Then go from there.  


  2. There is reciprocity between New York and New Jersey.  You should get an opinion from the Department of Motor Vehicles.  They would be the best ones to give you advice on that one.  Just a ticket may not have any effect on your license.  

  3. The Laws are different from NY to NJ

    In New York they just can stop you for talking on your cell phone with out a head set in New Jersey they have stop you for some thing else with that infraction.  Currently there is no point assets on your licenses for the cell phone law but it will effect you insurance for getting a ticket
