I am trying to find information on the proper seating on for thrones. Does the queen sit to the right or left of the king, and if you can find any seating positions for thrones it would help.

Am doing this for a game secondlife, the people I am creating the scene for want it correct.

  1. If you look at a picture of the state opening of parliament, you can see that the Queen sits on the left, from the point of view of a spectator, and Prince Philip on the right. Because the Queen is that in her own right, ie she did not marry a King, she is the current 'king' so to speak. Therefore, the answer to your question is that usually a King would sit on the left (for a spectator) and his consort (usually a Queen) on the right.

  2. The queen usually sits on the king's left side.

  3. OK.  From your question, it sounds like you are talking about a queen who is not a queen regnant.  Instead, you are talking about a queen consort (who is just the wife of the ruling king), right?

The proper placement of the thrones (if the queen consort has a throne at all alongside the king) depends on the country.  I think it's safe to put the queen's throne to the left of the king's throne (from his perspective), because the right side is often the place of honor in terms of seating precedence.
