Does a Region A blu ray from America work on the PS3?

I am looking to buy blood diamond on ebay from America; as it is cheaper, they are all region A and the UK is region B so will it work?

If you bought your PS3 in the UK it will only play Region B blu-rays, but the great thing about Blu-rays is that 90% of Blu-ray movies are released as region free. According to this website http://bluray.liesinc.net/ which I use frequently, you are in luck, the US release of Blood Diamond is region free. I recently got a PS3 and straight away went and bought 6 Blu-ray movies (Surfs Up, Hellboy, Monster House, Ghost Rider, Open Season and Close Encounters Of The Third Kind). Of those 6 movies, only Monster House was region coded, the other five were region free. I bought them here in Australia, so either way it didn't matter, but it does give you an indication of how common region free Blu-ray movies are. I've also been looking at getting some Blu-ray movies from the US because they are so much cheaper, so that website is a life saver.
