  1. No, it doesn't.

It may be cost-effective to check with a specialist water filter company. I just arranged for a filter to be installed in my home. It would have cost more to buy one at Home Depot and install it myself, and the filter I bought takes a standard size of filter that's been on the market for years.

  2. It has an indicator light so I would say yes

  3. No, it is just a flow of water through a membrane.  The warning light is a battery powered long timer.

  4. If you zoom in on the image, you can see it is a Whirlpool product.  A quick search reveals this web page:

    http://www.whirlpool.com/catalog/product...

The middle document is the user and installation manual in English.  The upper one is in Spanish.

There is a battery fitted for the timer to tell you when the cartridges need replacing.  There is no mains electricity supply to it.

The manual wil help you decide if you have space for it, too.

  5. No.

Just be careful buying such things at Lowes. Next month they seem to have a different brand of everything, than where do you buy new cartridges?
