  1. Yes, unless the person left illegally, they needed one to leave and enter another country.


  2. The short answer - Yes.  How will they know you are a citizen if you don't have a passport?

  3. If they are legal and not wanted by Interpol,yes they need a passport. How did they enter another country (except Canada) without a passport?

If you are coming into the US via plane, yes you do need a passport for proof of ID & Citizenship.  If you are coming via LAND or SEA then you need a Government Issued Photo ID & a Birth certificate.  While it isn't a requirement until end of January it can depend on the Customs/Immigration agent there.

  5. You have to prove that you are either a citizen or a legal resident of the U.S. and usually requires a passport. An exception is Canada where a driver's license is sufficient both to enter Canada and to return.
