Does a VCR deck model exist that can take VHS-C tapes WITHOUT an adapter?

I remember seeing such a model advertised in a pawn shop back in the mid-1990's. Can't remember too many details, except that it was probably JVC.

yes JVC made at least one consumer model that automatically adjusted to the small size. It made 3 industrial s-vhs models, BRS522 player, BRS622 recorder and BRS822 edit recorder with this feature. At one time JVC pushed S-VHS-C as a professional format.
