Does a ball really hit the floor ?

if, for example, you dropped a tennis ball does it actually make contact with the ground?

  1. Am I missing something here? The obvious answer is yes, it bounces off the floor.

    It doesn't go upwards if you drop a ball, and it doesn't suspend itself in mid air...

  3. It depends on what you mean by "ground" and where your are...If you mean ground like the actual planet and you're on a tennis court then no, it hits the pavement of the court...

    But there are so many definitions of "ground"...it's hard to say if anything ever makes contact with the ground...

  4. Depends on where you are.  If you're in zero gravity then the ball will just float around with you.  If you're on any planet then the ball will hit the surface.  

    But then again...is there really a ball in your hand?  Does your hand actually exist?  That is the true question...
