I have 2 10" Audiobahn subs in sealed boxes.I am guessing the boxes to be around 0.4cubic feet.If I was to build some 1.0 cubic ft. boxes would they be louder or hit harder???

btw the boxes they are in now leak quite a bit at the corners....

  1. You really have to look up the recommended enclosure size. The smaller the box the more tight punchy sound you will get. The larger the box the more boomy sound. If you go too far past the recommended enclosure it it will lower your sound all together.

  2. does a bigger car go faster?

  3. You would get a better sound out of a ported or band pass box. However to make it hit harder or "louder" you need to get a bigger amp. Also if you want deeper bass notes then you will need larger speakers. The larger the speaker the lower the notes it can hit.

Also if you build a ported box you need to check the specs for your speakers because ported boxes need to be larger than most sealed boxes.

  4. You didn't mention what model Audiobahn subs you have.  .4 cubic feet is pretty small for most Audiobahn subs, although there's always going to be an exception or two within a manufacturer's line.

The enclosure is almost as important as the sub in determining what the bass will sound like.  Suggest looking into the recommended enclosure size for your sub and building one to that specification.

  5. Not neccesarly. Depending on how many watts your speakers are they need a  certain amount of air flow.Any speaker you buy will have a chart of the size of box they need.

  6. id say the 1 cubic foot would sound much better then the 0.4 and it needs to not leak at all id fix that if you want louder go with ported
