Does a bookmaker get upset when he/she has to pay out winnings?

Or is it a case of "ah well I get to keep the losing side of the bet so I'm in profit anyway?

  2. Most horse racing is through parimutuel wagering so the track makes the same amount of profit no matter who wins. They take a percentage of the pool and divide the rest among those with winning tickets

  3. If the bookmaker's good at his job, he made money anyway.  If he got the odds wrong, or the fix was in but went awry, he'd probably got upset.
