My son has wanted a bowling party for years, but I am not sure about this. Has anyone done one before? I used to work at a bowling alley, and the kids seemed to have fun.... but I would like to hear parent reviews.

  1. I have never had a bowling party, but my 8 & 10 yr. old sons would love it! I think it's a great idea! Good Luck & hope his party is the best!

  2. did a bowling party for my daugher's birthday - she had 6 friends and they had a great time although I booked them in for two games, one would have been enough.

  3. I think that a bowling party would be awesome!

Kids love that stuff! They would have a great time, sure thing.

  4. Depending on where you are having the party, bowling parties can be great. My son loves going to them.  It gives the kids plenty of time to burn off energy and just think you won't have to have a bunch of 8 year olds in your house.

  5. We had a bowling party foe my grandson. It was great! The kids all had a great time. The invitation was forthe parents to attend as well and that gave us enough hands for everyone and everything. The parents had a great time as well.

  6. Yes!

Or maybe even Laser Quest, or Plaster Fun Time, ect.

  7. I think a bowling party is a great idea for your son. Especially if you can find a glo bowl place-my kids love those bowling alleys.

  8. My sister did that for her twins when they turned 7. I helped chaperone. They had a blast! Let him go for it and since you used to work in one you will know the rules and everything right? Go for it!

  9. they will have a great time.  Find a place that has bumper bowling to make it even more fun.  Enjoy the pizza and pop

  10. Almost all the parties my 8 year went to were bowling parties.  She always had fun.

  11. Yes. I know some of my friends as parents had done it and they told me their children love it and also told me its better to have the small group to balance out the attention and socialize. (like 6 or 8). If you have the parent supervised at the party it will makes other parents feel assured. Your son will thank you for it Finally! Add to say: please check for the party deals or package, it often offers you more for it than pay for the each child. My son often likes to have his boy buddies as he got little older, starting at 8. So you may want to ask your son to name his friends which is more fun for him to do.  Don't give the invitation out to school, only mail out.(Avoid hurt feelings of other kids who may not be invited)

  12. I've been to a few bowling parties for kids and they all seem to love it!   Another suggestion would be a roller skating party (if he's into that).  We did that last year for my son and everyone (including the adults that stayed) had a wonderful time!

  13. Bowling is great fun, and kids really enjoy it.

If you get pre-approval from the bowling alley, you can probably arrange to have pizza delivered right to the alley (or order it from the kitchen at the bowling alley).

You may also want to ask the bowling alley manager about gutter bumpers. These will eliminate gutter balls, which younger, smaller, less experienced bowlers are apt to roll. But they sometimes have to be arranged in advance.

Also, you can probably ask the bowling alley manager if there are any bowling games that could be played. Some bowling alleys are willing to have colored pins set up for you. You could then tell the bowler, "If you knock down this strike or knock down the colored pin, you win a special prize." That might add to the fun of the afternoon.

Have fun. I think it's a great idea - particularly if your son has been asking for one.

  14. When i was 8 i had my first bowling party. i think it is a great idea. just make sure you keep an eye out for the kids because i am ..... years old and dropped the ball on the backswing. it still is a great idea

  15. They will love it.

  16. i did that for my kid and they loved it also laser quest is cool but bowling was better

  17. Kids love bowling parties.  My niece has one every year.  The kids really have a lot of fun.  Order pizzas and drinks and go buy a cake and you are set.  Pretty simple too.

  18. This is the perfect age for a bowling party.  All the kids will have fun.

  19. i had onbe when i was nine with 5 other girls

  20. Yea that would be perfect and I think he would enjoy it. Just do  it and you will have fun too.

  21. I had a bowling party for my son this year who turned 7.  All the kids loved it.  It was a little chaotic trying to keep track of three lanes worth of kids, but the kids didn't seem to notice.  Definitely go where they have bumpers for the lanes, and if they have it near you, try duckpin bowling for kids (the balls are much smaller and easier to handle).

  22. Never had one but it does sound fun.  For my sons 8th bday party we did Laser Tag.  This year he wants at a sports club where they have batting cages, go-carts and minigolf..  I'm still throwing that around in my head. lol

  23. I've never actually thrown one, but my kids have been to several and they have a blast every time. My son wants a bowling party for his 8th birthday next year. The kids should have fun most kids do at bowling paries.

  24. Yes, just be sure to get bumpers on the lanes (younger kids suck at bowling without the bumpers).
