Does a broken tail feather hurt my cockatiel?

  1. depending on where the break is, if it is up around the body then it very well could hurt the bird, see birds feather have blood vessels in them like a dogs toenail or a rodents toenail. So if the break is up around where these vessels are then yes it hurts him/her.

      If the bird acts like it is bothering it then it probably hurts him/her, if you are still not sure then take it to the vet and see what can be done for you little birdie.

  2. No, birds do not have nerves in their feathers, so they cannot feel any pain from them.

  3. Not unless it is up in the skin where the break is. sometimes you get what is called a "blood" feather. You have to be careful of these if you clip your bird. You should only let a professional do this.
