  1. no it's light attracts the bugs,so it has to be dark, unless some bug goes in the zapper then it will zapp it,hope that helps.

  2. No, nor do they work at night.  The only insects they kill are 'good insects' like moths.   The sound of zapping that you hear is not mosquito death, but beetle, butterfly and moth death.  Put on some insect repellant and go outdoors.

  3. Technically it still does work during the day...but it's not as effective. The reason why people use bug zappers is because of the light. At night the bugs are attracted to the light source and zap they're dead. But during the day since it's bright out the light can't really attract anything because it's not all that visible. But it doesn't magically stop working during the day...it'll still zap the life outta any creepy, crawlin, and flying creature it just isn't as appealing during the day time.

  4. Bug zappers kill all bugs who venture towards it, not just the biting kind.  Any light source brighter than the ambient lighting will attract insects. So yes, they work during the day, but they aren't really killing the insects you want them to. They make a cool noise though.  Save your electricity and find an alternate way to avoid biting insects-bug spray, citronella candles, etc.
