Does a burnt out light bulb consume electricity when left switched on?

Also, does the electricity drain from light socket when left on with no bulb attached???

  2. Everyone else is right but just to be utterly pedantic a burnt out light attached to a dimmer switch will consume a trivial amount of electricity not in the bulb but in the switch.


  3. Absolutely not.  If there is not a completed circuit, then no current can flow. No current = no consumption.
