Hi,

I'm looking for a restaurant job. There are openings for bussers in a few places. Before I apply, I'd like to know if bussers get tips in Canada. If so, what is the usual scheme? How much can be expected?

Thanks

  1. Yes, they get tips.

  2. Totally depends on the establisment.  Most will provide some sort of "tip". This is provided by the servers themselves.  It's usually a set percentage.  Most commonly based on total sales.  Say  a servers sales equal $1,000....she has to tip out generally 2-3 percent of the total sales.  So her "tip out" would be $30, don't think you get all of that though.  That is to be divided amonst, hostesses, bussers, dishwashers, bartenders, kitchen helpers, and mostly management. I'd say it would be safe to assume you'll be getting around $5.00/shift as a tip.
