I know that a drugs test for cannabis will tell you if you have smoked or eatin it in the last 12 or so weeks, but will it tell you how much of it you have consumed?

For example if i smoked 1 gram 4 weeks ago, and my friend smoked 10 grams 4 weeks ago and we both got tested would they be able to tell that he had consumed more than me?

  1. There are things called thresholds which are basically the cut-off between a negative and positive test.  Different tests have different thresholds, but this might be important because the test sounds pretty heavy duty since you mentioned it tests urine, blood, and hair.  So say the threshold for THC is 40 ppm (parts per million) or whatever unit it's measured in (this is for the sake of argument) you can have 35 ppm and still test negative.  Or if you have 40+ ppm you would test positive.  Given the fact that they can tell how much THC is in your system (in whatever units they use) they could ideally gauge your smoking habits however I believe it would be relatively impossible for them to determine how much was consumed, as everyones metabolisms are different, etc. etc.

Drinking a lot of water before the test does not work.  At least not by providing a negative test (however, it will provide a negative screening - this is why he says try it on a home test).  The difference between screenings and tests are that screenings are done on panels (home tests) and give data immediately and tests are done in labs with sophisticated gas chromatography equipment and take a few days at the minimum to return results.  The test result will come up inconclusive and if this is a drug test you need to pass for probation or a job or something you will likely have to retest.  The only bonus to this strategy is that it can buy you a little more time (a few days to a week).

If you smoked 1 gram 4 weeks ago and had not smoked for a few months prior to that, you would probably test negative.  However, if you habitually smoked prior to the 1 gram 4 weeks ago it could take you 3 months or even more to test negative.

Anyway, the answer to your first question is no and your second question is yes.  Hope this was helpful.

  2. no. it does not show the amount you have smoked. it only proves that you have. cannabis stores in your body fat so any test cannot prove how much you have smoked, if you're skinny there a minor probability that pops on a test.

  3. The idea is to prove positive for usage. How much usage is not necessary.. You cannot base your test on casual usage. Have you ever considered all the other things they can learn about you? They can certainly tell if you have illnesses, female issues(baby making, obgyn stuff),what color you are, potential health risks Diabetic(overweight),tobacco user, alcoholic, etc. All of these health issues cost the employer money. Is getting a job involving taking a drug test for safety reasons? Lets say they hire you anyway, they work you like a dog, pay you minimum, then fire you for failing that drug test.No unemployment compensation for you.Drug testing only benefits that employer. Drug testing discriminates race color s*x and age. Yet we allow company's to dictate our lives by these drug testing policys. When will America fix this?

  4. yea the more thc in the blood stream the more shows up in p**s. if you dont smoke too much it should be out of your system. also drink 2 vitamin waters an hour before test

(this works) try it on a home test
