If it is at its lowest does the car AC consume less petrol than if it is higher?

  1. Yes.  The more work the AC has to do, the greater the load on the engine, the lower the gas mileage.


  2. For most cars, the AC runs full blast all the time it is on. the temperature control just mixes hot air from the heater with the cold air from the AC.

    Some cars have an actual temperature control that turns the AC off and on to control the temperature in the cabin.

    Which type do you have?  If the temperature control is set in actual degrees, then the latter, and the AC will use less gas the higher the temperature is set.

    If the first type, it is always running, and always uses the same amount of gas, regardless of the control setting.
