I recently bought a used 2003 Chevy Impala from a dealership. After a week It started giving a problems.... I took it back so they could run a diagnostics on it and I noticed that the mechanic was inputing information that didnt apply to my vehicle.... So I thought If maybe there was somehow they could have change the motor/engine when they got the car from an auction

  1. most likely yeah the vin now comes in almost every major part of a car

just gotta find were they put it on that engine u can call a chevy dealer ship and they should tell u or go ask in the chevy page

  2. It used to be that the Vehicle Identification Number, and The Engine Identification Number were two separate things.  But, judging from your other answers here, maybe things have changed.  You should check a shop manual, or even a Haynes or Chilton's manual should tell you about vehicle numbering systems.

  3. what information? the VIN is the VIN its on the windshield and on the engine block as well as the frame.
