Does a car mechanic have the legal right to use your car to drive another customer home?

I took my car on 8/8/08 to have brakes done. I had to take it back this morning to have it looked at because the brakes r making a grinding sound. While waiting, I saw that one of the mechanics took another customer home in my car! I asked y they used my car, the owner said that when I leave me car, they have the RIGHT to do what ever they want with my car and that if something happens, it is covered under their insurance. He said that if I don't like that, then take my car somewhere else.

It took 20 minutes to take another customer home!!!!

Let's just hope they get your brakes fixed right so you don't ever have to go back to that garage.
