Bought unregistered car on ebay. Car is in Arizona, but I want to register it in Colorado. I probably won't have a chance to transfer registration before I pick it up, so just wondering if a title signed over to me is valid temporary registration in the 3 states I'm driving through, which are Arizona, NM, and CO. Thanks!

  1. No, but you can get a temp. registration in AZ. that will allow you to operate the vehicle to be driven in any state. Go to the local Motor Vehicle office with the signed off title & they will get you the permit. My next statement assumes you have another vehicle. Before you go to the MVD, call your insurance agent & put the car on your policy. Have the agent fax the proof of insurance to you in AZ. If the vehicle was purchased from a dealer, ask to have the fax sent to the dealer. If it was purchased from a private party, ask that person to contact his / her insurance agent regarding the insurance.

  2. For $3.00 you can get a 3 day temp registration from the AZ DMV, I live in AZ If you have the VIN Number you can even get one on-line at    servicearizona.com and use a credit card & then print it out at home.

** I should also mention that if you get the temp permit on thurdsay or friday then it wont expire until monday or tuesday, they do not count weekends so you actualy get 5 days.

No.  You need to get a temp (30 day) registrations to drive it home.

    Good Luck...

  4. Very likely, No!  My suggestion though, is to rent a auto carrier trailer, and pull it home with a UHAUL.   The time and cost of obtaining a temp registration wouldn't be worth the trouble.   Also, trying to drive a strange vehicle any distance without really knowing anything about the car, can get you stranded.   The least expensive method of getting the car to your home, is to contact an "auto carrier" service to deliver the vehicle to you.   It will truly be less expensive than your trying to do it all yourself.   In that it is out of state, make sure you've gotten everything signed properly on the title, and that you get a "bill of sale" identifying the vehicle VIN #'s.
