I am 16, and finally am about to get a job. Only last year i ran away, was walking back when a cop picked me up, and i didn't have to go to court or anything. But it is illegal here in texas. So will i have a criminal history now?

  1. Only if you were charged and got a fine or had to serve time if it was community service, etc.  If he picked you up and returned you to your parents or whoever and said dont do it again, etc. probably not.

  2. your 16. dont worry about it. its a misdemenor like a traffic violation at best. youll know when you sit in front of a judge and have to plead guilty or not guilty. thats when you start to worry. you have no conviction till you have been tried in a court of law and found guilty. besides even if you were to go to jail the cop has 30 days to present the evidence for the arrest or it gets thrown out. and if he shows up you still get a preliminary hearing that will cross examine the cop to see if he had grounds for the arrest. word of advice in case you get into trouble. 1 never say anything other than the info of who you are.2dont belive a cop no matter what a he tells you. they promise lies all the time and claim lies all the time. you have the right to remain silent for a reason. 2 never write or sign any statements. 3 never wave a preliminary hearing and always plead not guilty the first time around regardless if you are. the courts hate trials and will always come back with a good deal come pre trial.

  3. No. I did it too when I was younger and was also not sure. If you did not go to court you have nothing to worry about.

Good luck with your first job!

  4. Running away is not a crime. They are really worried about your welfare. No you won't have a criminal record. You are a juvenile and nothing will stay on your record anyway until you reach eighteen.

  5. If you weren't arrested or charged there is no criminal history.

Any job you get at sixteen is unlikely to actually check criminal history, anyway.

  6. No sweetie, you do not have a criminal record.  You would've had to been charged and gone to court.

I'm proud that you are being so responsible now.

  7. whenever cops are involved it gets put on your criminal history, but because your 16 i think your fine cause your not an adult, and its such a minor issue it would not affect you with getting a job

  8. Since you were not arrested, charged and convicted of anything...of course not...all of the above will have had to happen to have a "criminal" history.  Records of persons under the age of 18 are not usually considered part of the "public" record, and are sealed anyway...

    however...no arrest...no charge...no conviction...no problem.
