  1. Yes I ride Kymco Venox and run it on highway all the time and around town with out any problems. Lets just say it will run on they High side of 90 when the road is clear. All I have done was changed the rear sprocket bigger but it would run like that before. 5 Gear is a true overdrive .

  2. Its pushing it.  I have one, and it's difficult to get to 70, especially going uphill.

I'm thinking of trading it in for a 750, or at least getting a 750 and keeping this one for putting around town in.

As long as your not in heavy traffic or going 70 it might work, but I'd consider getting something a little bigger.

  3. I would answer this question with a definite yes and no.

A 250 can go 60-65mph all day, no problem.  But here in California where I live, out in the country people go 80-85, sometimes 90.  You can't keep up with traffic like that.  You'll be in the right lane going at the legal speed limit and you'll feel the draft as people pass you.  It gets really scary when there's a big 18-wheeler behind you and you're just pedaling as fast as you can.  Going up a hill, or into a headwind, or two-up, and you find yourself slowing down to 50 or 45.

So it's not the thing for long-distance touring on the 'super-slab'.  You can do touring on secondary roads, and they're more fun anyway.  You can certainly do short distances on the freeway, like commuting to work.  'General personal transportation'.

When I got into bikes back in the 60s, they used to say there was no reason for a bike to be bigger than 250cc.  But that was then, when most cars shook and rattled at 65 mph and you felt like you were approaching the sound barrier.  In those days people routinely crossed the continent on 250s.  And actually, for anything under 50 mph, it's -better- than a big bike!

  4. NO

    The 650s barely do

  5. I wouldn't do it if you weigh more than 150 lbs. Top speed isn't nearly as important as acceleration in keeping you safe. If you can't merge with traffic or pull away from a traffic light quickly enough, someone will either bump into you or get really mad at you.

No need to pull wheelies away from every light, but you need to get out of your own way from time to time.

I usually recommend that people start on 450 to 650 series bikes. There are a lot of bikes that are tuned more to utility than the 600cc crotch rockets.

  6. Yes.  Should do 65 - 75 or so.  Mine does easily.

  7. Yes.

It won't be able to SPEED, but plenty to keep up with traffic.  In most other countries, 250 would be considered BIG bike.  Only in America they would be considered beginner bike.

I used to have a 50 cc moped that could do 40 MPH.  So add another 200 cc and they can easily keep up.

    Good Luck...

  8. Yes!!!
