Does a deep freeze fridge freeze things from the bottom only or from the sides too?

Question

A small tray had come with the deep freeze to put things into inside the deep freeze at the top. I had remove the tray and put some sodas to be freezes, 24 hours later only one of the soda at the bottom was half way freezes. Three quarters of the deep freeze was full up with other things.

Only from the sides, the evap coil is not placed in the bottom of the box and the top near the lid or door is the warmest place.
