Does a dvb mpeg2 Dish Network receiver work with Directv.?

  1. No. While Dish Network receivers (well, the standard defnition units, anyway) are based on DVB, the DirecTV receivers are not... though they're very similar, but not compatible.

    However, the dish and the LNBs are, or at least used to be. At least back in the dual and quad LNB days, they were compatible. I don't know if DirecTV can drive DishPlus LNBs or switches, as they use digital addressing rather than control voltages (the old ones just change a voltage on the wire to the dish to select the specific LNB).
