I just wanted to know does a fan help your xbox 360 from over heating. I bought a cooler but i heard rumors that the coolers make things worse so i heared that all i have to do is keep it in a good not enclosed area with no carpet and put a fan on it so it would keep cool so does it really help.please give more tips on keeping the xbox cool.I am trying to do this because it is an elite and i love it and i dont want it to get the red ring of death or over heat and mess up.

  1. Whether or not fans like the Intercooler help or worsen the Xbox 360's overheating problem is still debated.

To help avoid overheating, keep the console in a well ventilated area (not in a cabinet) and avoid long gaming sessions.

fyi, you do have three year warranty from the red ring of death on top of the normal one year warranty.

  2. definately don't use the intercooler. I found burn marks in mine cause the manufacturers didn't make sure that the power cords fit tightly enough. If you blow a fan it, it should be fine. Well it doesn't matter just make sure you send in the warranty cause every box breaks eventually. Probably so microsoft can make more money on warranties.

  3. Most of those "cooler" add-ons work off the principle of pulling more air into the console and exhausting the warm air out of the back.. People who experienced the most problems had their 360s in an entertainment center or squeezed into a space beside their TVs where there wasn't anywhere for the warm air to go so it would circulate back through the console, getting warmer with each pass.. I heard of one person complaining of the fan actually melting to the back of the console and voiding their warranty..

You would do well by using a small fan in tandem with your cooler if you still have it.. Nothing huge or "work shop" style.. Just something to keep cool, dry air circulating around the console.. Oh, and don't try to cheat by putting it on or near an AC vent.. This may create condensation inside the unit, which would probably brick your beloved Elite as well.. (Great system by the way!)   Hope this helps..

  4. Yes all those things will help
