Does a game of monopoly always end in disaster?

it seems that whenever i am involved in a game of monopoly it always goes wrong...someone always cries, there is always at least 5 arguments and all the little plastic houses get thrown around....and by the end of the game no-one is even speaking to each other any more.

is this the same for everyone?

thanks

  1. Well not the last couple of times I played...Pictionary on the other hand...that game should only be played by very brave people...either someone gets angry that the other can't guess their drawing or the other gets angry at the poor quality of the drawing or the teams begin to argue cause they are listening in on the other team...last time I played my Dad ended up storming out of the room...in my family I'd choose Monopoly any day :)

  2. Yes, my kids do that every d**n time we play the game.  Strangely, they always come back another day begging to play, but the end is always the same....another tiny piece gets lost, the dog ends up eating it, the board has to be retaped back together....

But I love Monopoly anyways....I can't wait till my kids have kids of their own., and they'll get to see firsthand how ridiculous they acted when they were that age....Payback can be a b*tch, you know.  :)

  3. cuz your family is full of whiners

  4. No.  Clearly the people playing the game have different personalities and shouldn't be playing the game together - some are getting in the spirit of the game and getting all the money they can and others are getting socked out and not liking it.  Also a game of Monopoly can take a long time to play and become tedious to younger players.  You might look at games that take less time, are less aggressive, and involve other skill besides luck and avariciousness.

  5. not for me but my friend wont play with me because if she loses she will throw the board. one time she threw it at her sister. sometimes we throw the little houses though.

  6. No,because when someone runs out of money that person looses until there is a winner.

  7. It ends in having wasted 4-5 hours playing a stupid game in which one person bulldozes everyone else.

Even when you win, you lose.

  8. lol u know wut now that i think about it yes. For some reason anything that has to do with money is a problem.

  9. HA HA YES!  My boyfriend's family always plays at Christmas.  I had no idea how the game actually ends because my family never finished a game before. My boyfriend convinced me to play with his family saying it would be fun.  They started forming alliances and I was getting so mad.  I almost got into a fist fight with his Uncle!!!  I REFUSE to play the game ever again.

  10. for me yes i get angry at it then leave the table but some how i end up playing it again next week

  11. it doesn't always end in a disaster, but the game is really long and gets tedious after most of the stuff is bought, so if someone loses after all that playing, they could get really upset and disaster could strike.

    - Disasters like that happen a lot since the game is so long

  12. i had to lmao when i read this. u just described me playing monopoly with my brothers and sister lol, believe me, ur not alone!

  13. Yeah, it usually ends that way if only two players are playing. However this usually doesnt happen to me in a large group.

  14. yessserie

    thats the way things go

    but its hella fun

    :p

  15. Are any of the people your playing w/ cheating or getting accused of cheating? When I've played the only time arguments happen is when someone cheats or someone is a poor sport. The fighting is what makes the game fun, as long as its all done in fun. Before the game starts make sure everyone knows the rules, whether they be house rules or the rules from the game. Good Luck!

  16. It does if you have a bunch of retards playing it.

  17. they r just frustrated bcause the frickin' game NEVER ends!the fighting/throwing just arise from a desperate desire to end the game, already!do urself a favor-go to parcheesi, pictionary or trivial pursuit.at least then,u would have a clearly delineated end !!!!!!!

  18. My siblings don't like to play with me because I am a natural banker kind of person.   They hate the little deals I try to squeeze out of them.   Plus, my sister doesn't like long games, so it can be stressful if things start dragging out.

  19. yeah it always ends up in a disaster with me lol
