Does a ghillie suit work?

It won't work in the desert unless its a desert version. Basically its a set of jungle or other togs designed to blend your basic sniper into the environment so that s/he can stalk the prey. Either animal or human.

You can ask any sniper out there, and they will say "Yes, it works well."

That would depend on who you are trying to hide from.  If poorly funded insurgents...yes.  But, if a regular police or army, then probably not, since they would probably have "FLIR" technology available to find you.

A Ghillie Suit is basically a piece of mesh with fabric that looks similar to the environment. A sniper would add shrubbery, grass, sticks, or moss to blend with the environment. When they have done a good job you would not be able to see them unless they move.
