Yes, unless you are a citizen of New Zealand you will need a visa to travel to Australia regardless of if you are a green card holder or not.

You said you're a green card holder. I suspect if you were a British, Canadian or EU passport holder, there would likely be a visa waiver. But if you're from a country that Australia requires passport holders to obtain a visa, then you'd need a visa.  

What your green card will do for you is show that you have economic ties to the USA, hence you won't be likely to stay beyond your admission.
