  1. NO!!!

  2. Horse shoes keep a horses feet cleaner and probably more comftorable

  3. No.

  4. no not neccesarilly it all depends on your horses feet. you can ask your farrier if it is really necessary

  5. That would put quite a lot of pressure on the feet so I personally would. If they are a sturdy native breed then the horse could probably manage it but you could ask your vet.

  6. I am not a show jumper so I can't speak to the issue of rules but I can speak to the issue of safety and among the main reasons horses are shod is to protect the hooves from wear and to provide traction. Aside from the hoof wear issue and sore feet if the hooves become badly worn, traction is a safety issue. The horse needs the best possible traction to push off for the jump and the best possible traction on the landing to maintain a secure grip on the surface to prevent a slip and fall.

  7. Sometimes it is helpful if you ride your horse alot to keep them from hurting their hooves. i had a horse that i didn't need shoes for and i jumped it in shows.

  8. its not a requirement, but probably a good idea unless your horse has really good feet.

but shoeing gets expensive and you have to have them redone frequently and once your horse is shoed, its hard to get them back to being unshod.

and if you are riding in dirt areans and areas with good footing, don't worry about it.

  9. no you do not have to have shoes on a horse for jumping classes.

If your horse is normally bare foot and sound while jumping, hacking or whatever at home then I wouldn't change now.

If he wears shoes or gets foot sore then he should continue in them.

I've one horse that cant go 3 days without shoes without being foot sore,  and another that can and has galloped over rip rap ( not intentionally, bugger got lose and was playing catch me if you can...) barefooted.  My smith said he didnt think that horse would ever need shoes, and so far he hasn't, after 9 years

  10. Ask your farrier - Horses, galloping at 35 miles per hour, generate over 6,000 pounds of pressure, on every square inch of their hoof (studies and tests have shown), so I cannot imagine how much pressure is produced, landing on the other side of a fence. In my personal opinion, I find it always better to shoe and not need, than to need and not shoe.

But please, talk to your farrier about what is best for the horse =)

  11. No the defiantly don't.  It would make it easier for your horse if you did though.  When you shoe your horse though you can put studs in it and they come in various sizes it will help your horses traction.  Your horse probably won't slip as much because there is better traction with the studs in the shoes.  If you don't want to out them on all four I have seen shoes just put on the front.

  12. If you do not all ready use shoes you do not have to wear them , for some horses going o-naturel , like mine is much better for them. If your farrier however has put shoes on your horse , your horse needs them . hope i could be of help ,

showing , never neccisarly needs shoes so if you dont have shoes u wont need em!

  13. No, he does not have to wear shoes in a jumping show. If your horse does not need them, then he doesn't need them. Most horses actually get better traction without them.
