  1. An "acoustic" piano is the traditional piano everybody is familiar with, that produces sounds by means of hammers striking strings and its sound is naturally reproduced without the use of electricity. It is generally referred to as "the piano."

Whereas, a "digital" piano is an instrument which does its best to duplicate the sound and feel of playing an acoustic piano. It uses digitally sampled sounds, amplifiers and speakers instead of strings and hammers to produce the piano-like sound. They have weighted or non-weighted key action to imitate the action of an acoustic piano.

The sound of the digital or electronic keyboard are reproduced by means of amplifiers and speaker systems and it won't function when electricity is absent. The keys of an electronic/digital piano could be the standard 88 keys, 76 keys, or 61 keys. The length of the keys, features, and the sound quality of your keyboard may vary upon its price range and ofcourse the manufacturer's popularity.
