Question:

Does a lamp or vaccum with no clocks, led's, etc. that is plugged in but not turned on use electricity?

I know things with clocks or lights use electricity (like a cell phone charger or coffee maker), but wondering about stuff without that. Thanks!

  1. Nope,  This stuff does not use electricity.

    It's good that you know about all the other stuff though!

    Dont forget to change your lightbulbs to Compact Florescents.


  2. yep, any thing plugged in whether it's on or not uses some electricity.

  3. Yes, they do use electricity.

    A household vacuum uses about 2.1 watts.

    A TV uses about 7.6 watts.

  5. Just put a power meter on two of my vaccum's plugged into the wall outlet and it shows zero.
