Does a landlord have to give notice that they are selling the house?

I live in California and i'm renting a house. l found out the owner is in default and is trying to sell the house. I want to know if they need to give notice they are trying to sell the home.

  1. im not sure about california laws but here in aus we have to give the tenant a few weeks notice i thinks its at least 3 but to be courteious it should be about 6


  2. There is no legal requirement that the landlord give any sort of "proper" notice, since your lease survives the sale. He would have to tell you eventually since there will be showings.


  3. No, but if he senses you might be interested in buying it he could make you an offer. But be aware that he has the right to show the place (with proper notice) to interested parties.

  4. It should say how much notice they need to give on your lease (if you have to leave), if all your conditions are staying the same i don't see why they should have to, it would be curtious though.
