  2. umm...yea...should also know how to play rhythm. its not all about soloing.

Yes, it is actually very important!  Lead guitarist play notes according to the chords they are playing over, its not just random notes in a scale.  Also, learning to play chords (major, minor, augmented, minor7th, etc.) will also help develop your finger speed.  Being able to play good, solid rhythmns will develop your solo phrasing as well.

  6. Yes.  You have to understand chords in order to create leads over them.  And, you can play single notes lines ALL the time.

  8. Not if you are playing guitar hero or rock band, but in real life is very help full if you know chords and are a musician, a lead guitar not only plays notes he also does chords but that depends on the song and type of music.
