  1. Linux is Open Source, meaning the source code is for all to take, look at, improve and share. This also means it's free (as in beer).

    So the answer, no, it doesn't expire. It might get outdated or abandoned, but that won't happen quickly with the major distributions like Debian, Ubuntu, Fedora etc.


  2. Most Linux OS software is free and should not expire.
