Hello everyone

I was wondering if a magnet magnetizes everything it comes into contact with. For example, I placed a blu ray disc near a magnet. Does it magnetize the disc?

Any response will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

  1. Magnets do have an effect to some degree on everything but they really only have a noticeable effect on metals that contain iron (ferrous metals) and a couple of others (I think nickel is also one but don't quote me).

To have a noticable effect on something like plastic, you'd need an absolutely huge magnetic field (think MRI machine x 100).

    Hope this helps.
