Does a neti pot work on a stuffy nose?

Or does your nose have to be clear first, like from using Afrin to shrink the nasal membranes?

I think I'm allergic to my new cats and don't want to get rid of them. I've never had cat allergies before.

I bought a SinuCleanse neti pot yesterday. I had already used Afrin in the morning so my nose was clear when I used it. I think I felt less of that allergy tingle in my nose for the rest of the day.

I was stuffy when I got up this morning. I'm trying to hold off on the nose spray. They say you're not supposed to use it for more than 3 days.

Will using the neti pot clear my nose, or will it not go through because it's stuffy to start with?

I use a neti pot myself, you do know that you use clean water for your saline solution?  I would stop using the Afrin- and go to the drug store and purchase a product called "Simply Saline" it is a nasal Mist and is much faster then the neti pot-I use it, I also am allergic to my cats-I buy the Simply Saline for allergies also.

I would also ask the chemist if he can get you a product called "NeilMed" for allergy and sinus relief-it comes with a bottle and the solution and you use warm clean water and mix and use as you would the neti pot. I really love this stuff, it is developed by a Dr. Mehta and is already premixed, ph balanced and preservative free.Do not forget to keep taking Acidopphilus. I use 5-billion & milk free with FOS.
