  1. I haven't heard of any state requiring a person to have a license to operate a boat unless it is for commercial use.

    you can contact your local fish and game, they will tell you for sure.


  2. Most states require a safe boating course and certificate to operate a motorized vessel if you were born after 1976. All states require this for PWCs. Contact your local USPS chapter or Coast Guard Auxiliary or your dept. of motor vehicles.

  3. I'm pretty sure you do.  Check out this link, its an online boating safety course that says it will "prepare you for the procotored boating course required by law".

    By the way, even if you don't need to have a license, you'll learn a lot of valuable info about the rules of the water, navigation, safety equipment, etc.
