  1. A good leather suit is the difference between walking away from a bad crash, and sometimes, just walking again.

No suit can ever be bomb proof ( Wayne Rainey 1993 ) but everything helps.

As for a $1000 suit, thats only £500. For that money, you will get a good suit. Not A GREAT suit.

If possible, get a bespoke suit made. They cost a small fortune, but after road / track days & racing for as long as I can remember, I would not buy anything else.

I use BKS Leathers here in the UK. ( same as James To52land in the years MotoGP's )

Use google and find your nearest outlet for yourself.

  2. Its not just the suit. its the extra protection that goes with it. Back protector, knee sliders, chest protector elbow pads.

but if your going to have an accident there is nothing on the market yet better than an all in one with Kevlar. anything tougher does not have the flexibility. Two pieces are OK for the road but not as good for the track. Saying that. you don't see many MX riders wearing leather. I should restrict my answer to Road racing. and leave the others to give their views for their sports.
