Does a p-channel JFET require a positive or negative value for Vgs? And Why? Does anyone know?

  1. it will require positive value of Vgs. it's bcuz gate is n-type and the fet channel is p-type. so, to create depletion region, we'll need gate(n-type) to be connected to + of batt. and     source(p-type) to be connected to - of the batt.
