  1. Hygienist's are considered providers of service and may or may not qualify for benefits.  It depends on the dental office they are working in and the personality of the dentist.  Part-time employees as a whole do not qualify for benefits.  Most dental offices require a minimum of 32 hours worked weekly before they are considered full time.  Your best bet is to check ads in the paper, talk with other RDH's and also, contact your local temp agency's.  They know the dental offices quite well and can steer you towards a dentist that will pay benefits to a part time employee.  


  2. Depending on your employer.   Benefits are usually more expensive for partime workers
