  1. To answer your question quickly, YES you can.

You can apply for SSI (Supplemental  Security Income).

To be eligible (and you are), you have to be:

    aged (age 65 or older);

    blind; or

    disabled. (YOU ARE ELIGIBLE)

    Additional requirements:

    has limited income; and

    has limited resources; and

is a U.S. citizen or national, or in one of certain categories of aliens; and

In general, an alien who is subject to an active warrant for deportation or removal does not meet the citizenship/alien requirement.

is a resident of one of the 50 States, including the District of Columbia, and the Northern Mariana Islands; and

is not absent from the country for a full calendar month or more than 30 consecutive days; and

applies for any other cash benefits or payments for which he or she may be eligible, e.g., pensions, Social Security; and

gives SSA permission to contact any financial institution and request any financial records that the financial institution may have about you; and

    files an application; and

    meets certain other requirements.

    HOPE YOU GET IT!!!

  3. With a GOOD LAWYER it certainly CAN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  4. yes

  5. doubt it. i'm sure there are lots of things you can still do. so i would say no. two ladies at work had polio when they were younger and have complications from that. one lady can't use her left hand at all. i have an illness that keeps me from making it to work sometimes and i can only work part time. they won't give me disability and it's a real illness. they suck

  6. If the hand disables you from working then yes. When you send your application to them they may not qualify you right away it may take years. but once you get it they will pay you back pay from when you sent the application. I know four people it happened to and that's how it works

  7. The qualification for disability is this: you can no longer preform the job you used to.  Let's say you were a data entry specialist, and now you have lost  the use of one of your hands.  You can longer preform that duty, so you would be technically "disabled".  You have to see a disability doctor to be declared as disabled.  At that point, you would qualify for what's called "SSI". This stuff varies by state, so look in the government section of your phone book, look under county, and you should be able to find the disability office for your area.  They can take this further for you.  Good luck

  8. it depends on what you do for a living. my husband's uncle was missing 3 fingers and it didn't qualify him. our purchasing agent doesn't have the use of all of his fingers and it didn't qualify him either.
