Does a pavillion always mean it's open air?

Question

One of the places my fiance and I are looking at to have our ceremony and reception at states on thier website that they have a pavillion. My first thought was that a pavillion's usually open air, but then it goes on to give the rates for use of the kitchen. I wouldn't think a kitchen would be in open air. I called the place a little bit ago and left a message but they haven't gotten back to me yet.

So, can a pavillion be an enclosed structure?

I think a pavillion is always open air, but perhaps the kitchen isn't what you are thinking it is - - like maybe its a BBQ grille - - or maybe it is in a small enclosed space that you can get to.

My friends had a BBQ for their dad at a pavilion in a park and there was a shed-like structure at one end that contained a small kitchen.

Pavillion typically means an open-air structure. However, it is possible for a pavillion to have a kitchen. I've actually been to at least 4 pavillions with kitchens. Often, the kitchen part is at least somewhat enclosed, and it's not a kitchen like you'd see in a house - it's a little less refined.

usually they have a roof and an outdoor kitchen( girll, sink) but every place is different, maybe it has an indoor kitchen attached to it,

I looked at a venue that was called a pavillion and it was a two story, enclosed building, with a full commercial kitchen and bar.

Also, at least in WI, the local fairs have buildings on the grounds called pavillions and they are enclosed as well.

Most of the pavillions at area parks though are the open air structures.  If they have a kitchen it is semi enclosed with basic sink and counter.  Maybe a grill if you're lucky.

I would think a pavillion means it's open air. The may have their kitchen in a closed area, but the seating is all outdoors.
