Does a person take a breath more often in cold or hot weather?

  1. I was just at the children's museum today with my daughter.  While we were in the Arctic section the man was saying that their bodies where more adapt to living in the cold by needing to take fewer breaths then everyone else.  i don't recall what the reason was as I was probably distracted by my daughter.


  2. cold, because cold contracts the lungs, allowing less air to be held in them at a time.

  3. You breathe more often in hot weather.  Hot air is less dense than cold air (which is why hot air rises), so a lungful of cold air will have more molecules in it, therefore more oxygen.  This means you won't have to breathe as often to supply the body with oxygen.
