  1. yep, the equation for photosynthesis is =

carbon dioxide + water + light energy -----> glucose + oxygen + water

    hope this helps :) xxxx

  2. Over the course of a day, yes.

During the day, the leaves absorb carbon dioxide and give off oxygen as part of the process of photosynthesis.  At night, they give off carbon dioxide, but not as much as they have absorbed during the day.

  3. Well, a plant absorbes carbon dioxide to use for photosynthesis - to make food - and during this process oxygen is made. Some of the oxygen is used, but not a lot and most of it is released again.

  4. Yeah, but incorrectly spelt though

  5. It's WRONG that this only happens at night, in fact it happens less at night. There are two processes....respiration and photosynthesis.

    Respiration..(simply)

    Food + oxygen >>>>carbon dioxide + water.

    Photosynthesis(simply)

    carbon dioxide + water >>>(in sunlight)>>> sugar + oxygen.

Both happen at the same time....during the day photosynthesis produces more oxygen than respiration produces of CO2. At night the respiration process carries on but the photosynthesis (making O2) more or less stops.

So in short...in sunlight a plant produces more oxygen, at night, more carbon dioxide.

  6. Yes, but it doesn't breathe it in like humans.  It opens pores so that CO2 can passively float in at the same time that O2 floats out.  The conversion of CO2 to O2 is fairly constant, so the inflow of CO2 and simultaneous outflow of O2 is also constant.  And, humans do not notice that it is happening because it is happening on such a small scale in the leaves.

  7. thats exactly what it does, very kind of it to give us all that oxygen aint it.

  8. yeap, a plant uses carbon dioxide for photosynthesis, and expels oxygen as a by-product from photosynthesis...

since plants need sunlight to photosynthesis, it cant photosynthesize at night, thus it breaths oxygen and expels carbon dioxide at night...

  9. I think you mean:

Does a plant take in carbon dioxide, then give out oxygen?

And yes it does, are you in 4th grade?

  10. yes

  11. Duh! And it's carbon dioxide and oxygen.

  12. yes the process is called photosynthesis, the leafs absorb carbon dioxide and uses chlorophyll to convert it to oxygen.

  13. photosynthesis

  14. Yes...we human beings breath in oxygen!!!

  15. most 'normal' plants do..

  16. Plants actually do both. They breathe in carbon dioxide and gives out oxygen (photosynthesis), as well as breathes in oxygen and gives out carbon dioxide (respiration)

Photosynthesis is the conversion of light energy into chemical energy by living organisms, such as plants. The raw materials are carbon dioxide and water; the energy source is sunlight; and the end-products are oxygen and (energy rich) carbohydrates, for example sucrose, glucose and starch. This process is arguably the most important biochemical pathway, since nearly all life on Earth either directly or indirectly depends on it. It is a complex process occurring in higher plants, phytoplankton, algae, as well as bacteria such as cyanobacteria. Photosynthetic organisms are also referred to as photoautotrophs.

On the other hand, plant respiration is the oxidation of certain substrates by enzymes, leading to a release of carbon dioxide. It can be loosely thought of as the opposite of photosynthesis, though the net release of carbon dioxide in respiration is less than carbon uptake in photosynthesis. sources of glucose for respiration for plants are starch or directly from photosynthesis.

Respiration is an essential life process in plants. It is necessary for the synthesis of essential metabolites including carbohydrates, amino acids and fatty acids, as well as for the transport of minerals and other solutes between cells. It consumes between 25 and 75% of all the carbohydrates produced in photosynthesis at ordinary growth rates.

  17. pretty much, but its carbon dioxide and oxygen

  18. they use carbon dioxide and sunlight with photosynthesis. and release oxygen and make sugar.

  19. plants take in carbon dioxide in the day and give out oxygen

at night though the opposite happens

btw, sorry my answer is practically the same as some others, i write so slowly, i click to answer the question and i'm like the 2nd one to have answered, then when i submit, you guys have all put your answers in.

but yeah, all the answers are good so far

  20. Yes.  That is the result of photosynthesis.

  21. Yes, but only at night.
