Does a plaster wall have studs?

I m going to put up a Tub Surround,above the tub.

  1. Hi,yes there are studs every 600 mm,if it was built correctly.


  2. Yes it does. It also has small boards that run horizontal.  On most older homes the studs were set 24" apart on new homes they are 16"on center

  3. not all walls have studs. there is a new building method being used where they sandwich a thick piece of rigid foam inside two pieces of plywood or OSB. assembly is quick and easy and the wall is preinsulated to upwards of r-60. pretty good huh? but chances are...yes your wall has studs.

  4. Yes, it does. Whether the plaster is in the form of sheets of drywall, or whether it is applied over lathe, it still has to be attached to the studs.
