Question:

Does a player have to have the name of Ablett before he gets protection from the AFL umpires?

Against Fremantle Gary Ablett received four free kicks - plus Josh Carr was reported for rough play against him.

Whereas Daniel Kerr get hit, scragged, pushed, pulled - it's just open season on him. No wonder he whacked that weakling Scott West.

The umpires are so pathetic today - none of them have ever played the game & have no idea whatsoever in relation to what really goes on out there. They're too busy looking out for their favourite Mummy's Boys!

  1. It seems as if this is the case...but then Snr got away with heaps (must be a family thing)

  2. welcome to the world of a Collingwood supporter mate....

Goodes is another golden child who cannot be touched coz the umpires love him.

But I dont think any player deserves to be whacked - and West is a great player.

  3. Yes.

Apparently so. One only had to watch what the Bulldogs players were doing to Daniel Kerr the other day - the umpires just ignored the rule breaches. But that was not surprising - seeing Kerr was a WCE player.

  4. Ah ENVY; the sin of fans who support sh*t teams lol

  5. All a player has to do is become a big name and then the umpires award a free to them for nothing.

The only exception to this is Pavlich, Kerr and some others.

The AFL has a rule about protecting their players, but now it's gone to far, you can touch a player and get reported.

I went to Freo vs Geelong, and I remember one free to Ablett, he was down the side that I was on and he got touched and fell over, so I shouted out, "Faking's for Soccer!".

  6. Yea i like Ablett but all the free kicks he got geez! what about Dale Thomas? he is always getting picked on and the umpires never do anything about it. what the h**l?

  7. Stop crying, gutsache, you little mummy's boy.

yes kerr should've got some frees - FOR BEING HELD ONTO by Matthew Boyd - but NOTHING ELSE. Boyd had two hands around kerr for almost the whole match... didn't really do much else.

What the h**l is 'scragged' anyway?

Crowley was doing the same thing to Ablett, but Ablett was actually being pushed and such (I watched both games).

Kerr headbutted West 10 minutes into the game so he didn't do it because he was being held by Boyd!!

Get your facts straight and actually watch the matches and incidents before actually talking about them.

one eyed supporters like you are so pathetic today - none of them actually know anything about the rules or what's going on except when their own team is concerned and they go crying about it when something doesn't go right for their team.

  8. i recon its all to do with big football names,

refs now pick favourites and they get special treatment

its totaly unfair for the other players.

take the kerr incident last night,

he should have had a couple of free kicks but then again,

hes an eagle so maybe thats why they weren't paid.

while watching the match i saw a few that should have been paid yet weren't .

the afl tribunal need to draw the line.

  9. Yes.

Having the name of Ablett means that all the Victorian umpires will fall over themselves to look after him.

  10. In most cases yes. There are some exceptions to this rule; usually they are centre half or full forwards.
