Question:

Does a positive attitude actually work?

I am one of those negative people, if one thing goes wrong, I am easily discouraged and shut down. The last few days, everything is going wrong. I caught a cold, I broke out in hives (again), my inspection sticker ran out last month and I need the wiper motor fixed, a sensor is out, it needs a fuel filter. I have not enough money, a $259.00 electric bill due to be cut off on the 29th, the kids start school monday and need haircuts......and to top it off, it has been raining very hard and the roof started leaking, yesterday evening a big chunk of the ceiling fell off right on my bed. Usually I would have shut down and cried, but it is so crazy, I find myself almost laughing about it. I have decided today to keep a positive attitude to see if it works. I am not very experienced in doing so but I will try.

DOES IT WORK?

  1. im not a very positive person either, and i used to get really stressed out over everything.

i think you need to learn to just let things go.

im still a pretty negative person but im not upset or stressed out any more at least. ive realized that all the little things really dont matter.

my car has been stolen, im over my head in medical bills, and because of the medical bills i couldnt pay my credit cards, so i have over 2000$ in credit card bills.

i over drew my account by 20$ which cost me over 500$ in over draft fees because they would reverse any of it, which i cannot afford to pay so my bank account was close. my car insurance is taken from my bank account and because i dont have one i dont have car insurance.

i fainted at work and was taken to the er and then got a letter in the mail telling me i have to prove i dont have epelepsy, i dont have health insurance so i never got that done, so my license was suspended but i have to work. and i got pulled over and got a 300$ ticket.

i think there are so many things people have to put up with every day, rude people, bad luck and then everything else on top of it that makes every day life harder and it so much easier for people to be negative about it.

the bottom line is that its your life and its all you have so why spend every day worried and stressed out or upset over dumb things. there isnt anything you can do some/most of the time. so just let it go and try to do what makes you happy. because everyone is going to die some day and you dont want to look back and just remember always being unhappy over everything. so s***w it all.

i think the best way to live your life is some where in between being optomistic and pesamistic, just be a realist and take things for what they are but dont let them get the best of you.

ps: its really not that hard to cut hair, i cut my own and i have no experiance in it, so maybe if your kids will let you just do it yourself, it sure does save a lot of money.

  2. never tried it before, probably won't.

  3. It works, but not when a situation is as awful as yours is.

  4. Yes.

Most people would call me "rich".  Lot's of my friends are well off.  Has anyone ever said "I just love being around Mary she is so negative, I just love it" ?  We like to be around positive happy people rich or poor.  Such relationships help us all.

I  have problems too, spent a two week on a project the has to be removed, my financial planner lost $90K in six months, my windows leak when rain comes from the south etc. etc..  I look for solutions to the problems, salvage the project through creative ideas, take personal charge of my finances , fire the financial planner and realize that regardless of what comes up I can deal with it.

So can you.  Regardless of our income status we can be happy.  If you try it for one day and stop don't expect much.  It's a life choice not a one-time shot.  Good luck hope all goes well.

  5. staying happy can make world of difference, believing in your self is the best thing you can do and is the first step to fixing everything, check around the family and see if anyone has hairdressing skills, grandmas usually do, cut back on your electricity for a bit, use candles for light where you can, get a plastic sheet and stick it over the hole until you can get it done properly, keep positive and everything will be fine =]

  6. Yes on the surface. They really do.

spread yourself out little bit. give a little in each direction until you can close the gaps of your misfortune. And try to stay on top of things there after.

  7. Oh, yes.

When you are honestly positive, not just pretend to be.

I like to observe life "above" those small insignificant daily things that I only see as a challenge to live orderly.

"Solving problems" is a part of my positive attitude towards life. Doing it "one at the time" MAKES one really positive.

Instead of creating "drama" you approach each issue seriously, one at the time and see what you can do to solve it.

With time you become a person "in control" of things instead of some-one just complaining about the smallest problem.

  8. You bet it works, but you have to keep it with every heartbeat no matter what.
