I was wondering once you become part of the royal family by family do you have to be trained proper "royal etiquette" or do you just do what you normally would do? I know anyone in the royal family will marry someone who is already "up to par" as far as being born into wealth and prominence but is there any further "rules and regulations" on what to do, what not to do, what to say and how to act, dress, socialize, etc.? I know it's just a movie but is it really like the whole Princess Diaries thing with Anne Hathaway?

  1. Training and testing before the marriage.

  2. I wouldn't use the word 'trained', but It's more than likely that anybody coming into the royal family would have to be schooled in certain areas like ettiquette, the inner workings of the family/what they do, how to deal with the press etc.

  3. They are not trained.  Like in any family that anyone marries into, the new member of the family would have to learn how the new family works.  Of course her husband would help and, in the case of a royal family, she would have access to an army of advisors.  they may be taught how to act around senior members of the royal family, but this would be the same for anyone who had contact with them.

To be completely honest most people who do marry into these families are usually quite well mannered.

  4. Most girls who do marry into royalty are from the upper classes and already know basic etiquette. These women do need to learn about the royal history of their country. They need to learn who's who in the royal world and in the political world.

As to clothes, they have to dress appropriately for their rank. They get to meet with professional stylists and designers if they want to do so,so they can find their own style.

Generally, upper class women do not dress in extremes;they dress with good taste, wear a natural makeup, keep their nails groomed and not long and claw-like with intricate designs painted on,and the hair is well groomed also.

The Princess Diaries shows a teen-ager from the middle class learning about the upper class way of doing things,in a theatrical way,of course.

  5. Ehh...this is sort of pushing it...but...remember the email with this answer in it? :D Meh, no worries though.

    Cheers!
