Does a private club have to use Roberts Rules for its meetings?

I don't know that they have to use Roberts Rules of Order, but if they do not things could get out of hand and depending on who is in charge it could be one sided.

No. You can use whatever rules you want.

In fact, almost no one actually uses Roberts Rules of Order, though a lot of people think they do. The actual book containing Roberts Rules is a fairly hefty tome, full of some arcane and formal stuff.
