Does my RCA receiver use lots of energy when its not playing music and its still on?

  1. Yes, but "lots" is a relative term.  Basically if it warm it uses energy.  Almost everything electronic has power consumption while off.  If they have a clock or other memory features they will use energy.  As for yours being on while not playing music, I would think it would be about the same as if it were in use.


  2. Most electronic devices on standby use a small amount of energy - probably around 5 watts. That means 200 hours for about 10p. However if everyone in the country leaves theirs on - multiply that by 20 million and you have a lot of wasted energy!!
