I'm looking for a recipe for a sweet roll that has cinnamon and raisins baked into it but all I can find is cinnamon rolls with raisins in them. I don't want to make cinnamon rolls. I'm looking to make something more like a dinner roll but sweet with cinnamon and raisins. Anyone ever heard of a recipe like that?

  2. I would make a basic sweet dinner roll recipe (adding a tsp of cinnamon and a cup of raisins):

    ~~

    4 1/4 to 4 3/4 c. flour

    1/2 c. lukewarm water

    1 tsp. sugar

    2 pkgs. dry yeast

    3/4 c. lukewarm milk

    1/4 c. sugar

    1 tsp. salt

    1/3 c. shortening

    3 eggs

Soak yeast in warm water with one teaspoon sugar. Combine warm milk, sugar, and salt in a large bowl; stir to dissolve. Beat in shortening, eggs, yeast mixture, and 1 cup flour; beat until smooth. Add remaining flour; beat until smooth.

Turn onto lightly floured board and knead until smooth and elastic (5-10 minutes). Place in greased bowl. Grease top; cover and let rise in warm place until doubled (1 to 1 1/2 hours).

Punch down; shape into rolls. Bake at 375 degrees for 20-25 minutes.

  3. I think so. Its like raisin break expect in a roll. Try to find a recipe for homemade rolls and just add cinnamon sugar and raisins. It doesnt matter how much of either you put in.

  4. Cinnamon Raisin Sticks

    Dough

    1 ¼ cups warm water

    1 Tbsp. instant yeast

    2 eggs

    ¾ cup sugar

    ½ cup unsalted butter, softened

    1 tsp. vanilla extract

    1/3 cup nonfat dry milk

    1 tsp. salt

    ¼ tsp. cinnamon

    1 cup all-purpose flour

2 to 3 cups bread flour

    Filling

    4 Tbsp. unsalted butter, softened

    1 cup sugar

    2 tsp. cinnamon

2 cups raisins, plumped and patted dry

1 egg white, beaten until foamy

    Dough

Hand whisk the water and yeast together in the bowl of an electric mixer and let stand for 2 to 3 minutes for the yeast to dissolve. Whisk in the eggs, sugar, butter, vanilla, dry milk, salt, cinnamon, all purpose flour and 2 cups of the bread flour to make a thick dough. Knead the dough on a lightly floured surface for 8 to 10 minutes, gradually adding more bread flour as required to form a soft, elastic dough. Form the dough into a ball and place in a lightly greased bowl. Place the bowl inside of a large plastic bag, close the bag loosely and let the dough rise for about 45 minutes, or until almost doubled in size. Gently deflate the dough and let it rest for 10 minutes. Preheat the oven to 375.  On a lightly floured surface, roll the dough out to a 20  by 10 inch rectangle. Spread the butter over the dough, then sprinkle it with the cinnamon, sugar, and raisins. Starting from a short side, roll up the dough into a log and flatten it gently. Cut into 12 equal slices and place them on 2 baking sheets stacked together with parchment paper on the top sheet. Brush with the egg white and then sprinkle them with sugar, then twist. Let rise for 15 minutes. Bake for 25 to 30 minutes.

  5. That sounds like Hot Cross Buns .... look for a recipe for those instead, and leave the icing off the top if you want

  6. I believe you could just take a normal dinner roll recipe and add raisins and cinnamon into it. I would try about 1 1/2 cups of raisins and 2 tablespoons of cinnamon. Mix these things in when shaping the dough into a roll form.
